-On September 25th at our Weekly Club Meeting, Mr. Colin Thacker, a fellow Canadian Rotarian and chairman of the Guatemala Literacy Project (GLP) Board made a detail speech on Zoom on Guatemala Literacy Project which we donated $1000 USD. The GLP is the largest grassroots, multi-club, multi-district effort in Rotary, and works to end the cycle of poverty in Guatemala through education. There are more than 100 other Rotary Clubs supported this well-respected and Global Grant proven project(Global Grant #2012567 ).  This grant will provide textbooks, computer education, teacher training, and youth development for poor children in rural Guatemalan communities. Without interventions like these, 90% of these children will never graduate high school.
GLP has been carried on in more than 20 years. There are 685 Clubs involved in 9 countries, 82 districts. In Canada, there are 75 clubs participated in this project. GLP has created 207 Textbook projects, 94 Reading Programs, 53 Computer programs an 731 Rise Youth Development programs. In total, 57,222 students benefitting every day. Susan from Rotary Club of Windsor Roseland (International partner of GLP) said that their club has been involving with this project for 15 years. A business cooperation in Guatemala agrees to match the fund they raise. So every donation will multiple 3.5 at the end to fund this project.
